Maddy Briggs is an electroacoustic musician based in Sydney. Agraduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, her practice centres upon the digital elaboration and explosion of acoustic instruments, weaved together into highly textural, ambient soundscapes.
Her work has been performed at VIVID Sydney, MUSLAB’s 2024 International Electroacoustic Music Festival, and has been aired on SBS On Demand, BBC Music 6 and FBi Radio.
She is the composer and sound designer for Endling, a physical theatre installation piece developed by Legs on the Wall currently on displauy at VIVID Sydney 2025.
During lockdown, her collaborations with the APRA award-nominated HiberNATION festival include a series of solo and collaborative livestreams and an avant-garde Minecraft sound installation.
She also co-curated Konzertprojekt’s 2022 concert series Sound Stories in partnership with the City of Sydney, for which she created an audiovisual collaboration, August Underflow, with visual artist Keesha Field.
She was the recipient of the Australian Art Orchestra’s 4th Mentorship Program with mentor Tilman Robinson, and was awarded a place in Australian Art Orchestra’s 2022 Creative Music Intensive.
She is a member of new music ensemble Chaos Collective.
She is also an arts writer and currently works at Limelight as a Staff Writer. She has also contributed articles to WNYC’s New Sounds, ClassikON, Honi Soit, Fine Music Sydney, and Resonate Magazine. She has delivered pre-concert talks for Musica Viva Australia and Ensemble Offspring.
In 2024, she was selected as a participant for Bang On A Can’s Media Workshop in Massachusetts.
